Okay, maybe we’re definitely screwed.

Nigerians During the #ENDSARS Protest

I was born here some twenty-five years ago. Our gas prices have never been so high. They are so high that it has now become economically more reasonable to take public transportation to work than to constantly refuel your vehicle at almost quadruple the amount — or even more than that.

Anyone with an imagination, and for the very few who are actually able to use it, can conjure up an image or, at the very least, a memory of the past and what life was like then.

I don’t have a terrible lot to say, mostly because there’s not a lot that hasn’t already been said and reiterated several times, the echoes stretching decades back into the past. I’m also not particularly confident that Dangote’s attempt to produce PMS within the country will yield what Nigerians need? After all, what’s the point of having cleaner and potentially richer petroleum products if they remain at or experience a surge in price, even much more above what we are currently experiencing?

Aliko Dangote, Africa’s Wealthiest Businessman.

This could go either way. The refinery could prove to be a good bet and could produce what could potentially be the cleanest and purest form of PMS Nigeria has even seen. Being optimistic, it could even be cheaper, let’s say. And that would be a great outcome. For the time.

And then, maybe, we might be able to focus on the remaining ninety-nine problems.

Selah.
